GUIDE QUESTION
This is hydrated copper sulphate.
Class HypothesesHot water takes less time to diffuse because the particles in the water move faster, there for the ink will spread through the water faster. Materials & Apparatus
Procedure1. Pour 40ml of tap water into Beaker A. Insert a thermometer and record the temperature. 2. Pour 40ml of boiling water into Beaker B. Insert a thermometer and record the temperature. 3. Using the droppers, put ONE drop of ink into the beakers AT THE SAME TIME. 4. Start the stopwatch IMMEDIATELY. Record the time it takes for the ink to completely spread out in each beaker. 5. Complete the Results Table. Results Table:
Guide Questions: 1. Why was it important to put the drop of ink into the beakers at the same time?
If the ink was dropped at different times, the ink that dropped in the first will diffuse faster. 2. Did your results support your hypothesis? Explain. The hypothesis supports my result. The hot water took less time to diffuse through the beaker. 3. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best, rate your participation in the investigation and explain why. 5, because i did a lot of the jobs like collecting data and checking the temperature. 4. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best, rate your partner’s participation in the investigation and explain why. 5, Mimi and Clarice helped in the experiment a lot, without them i can never do it by myself. 5. How can you improve this experiment? Mimi accidentally dropped too much ink but the hypothesis still supports the result. |
